Hurricane Irma was a reminder that the cost of living on our delicate string of
islands is the knowledge that nature comes along once in a while to wipe the
slate clean.
Still, signs of our resilience abound: an orchid blooming days after the storm; a
wooden house from the 1800s, built by shipwrights and standing tall; or
neighbors helping neighbors get back up on their feet.
Creativity often works the same way; it returns with new focus after a test.
We plan to spend the season-after-Irma reflecting on the things that bend
but don’t break, the things that last, and the things that matter.
Of course, most of those aren’t things at all. They’re experiences, skills and
memories we carry with us on the inside; or friendships and community we
share with others. And the good news is that’s our business here at The Studios.
Throughout the pages of this book you’ll find countless opportunities: to dive
down rabbit holes; debate ideas; make new friends; get your hands dirty; hone
your skills; dance ‘til your feet hurt; or just take a chance on something fun.
Trust us, no storm can take those things away from you.
