How The System Works
The Bolus with Passive RFID is invented
and developed by Datamars. It is a
special ceramic capsule resistant to
stomach acids that contains a battery-free
RFID transponder for life-time identification.
The system issues each cattle with a
uniquely encrypted identification number
used to identify, monitor and track the
cattle anywhere.
The bolus is inserted orally with a bolus
applicator at the back of animal tongue,
so it will be swallowed by natural reflex,
avoiding any damage to the animal’s
throat. By the weight of the ceramic, the
Bolus settles in the recticum with close to
zero losses, and where it can’t be reached
or removed by rustlers. Datamars RFID
Readers are used to capture identification
registered in the bolus and store numbers
in the farm database.
The matching identification number is
printed on the visual ear tag designed to
guarantee the highest retention rates, and
applied with safe and easy applicator, to
enable farmers and ranchers efficiently
identify and manage their livestock.
