Jennifer Davis looked to be
the picture of health.
But something was terribly
wrong with the picture.
An avid runner and the mother of two girls, 40-
year-old Jennifer Davis was in terrific physical
shape. One night, Jennifer felt a tightness in her
chest. Thinking it would go away, she went to lie
down. But it was wishful thinking—she felt
a wave of nausea and pain started radiating
up to her jaw. Finally she went to BayCare’s
St. Anthony’s Hospital. The medical team found
she was having an extremely rare type of heart
attack: spontaneous coronary artery dissection
of the left anterior descending artery. Jennifer
was rushed to the cath lab, where doctors
inserted two stents, which opened her artery.
And she can thank heaven that this extremely
rare heart attack was treated at an extremely
rare hospital.
BayCare hospitals treat more adult acute heart attack patients than
any other health system in the greater Tampa Bay area.*
