Meet The Artist
The Zephyrhills Art Club
By Fran Byers
The Zephyrhills Art Club could
well be the best kept secret in
Pasco County! The club was
established in 1963, bringing
together artists of two dimensional
mediums to share the mutual
joy of creating, improve their
own skills through the exchange of ideas and techniques, and
to enrich and beautify the community. Meetings are the third
Tuesday evening of the month at 7:00 p.m. at Alice Hall Community
Center which edges Zephyr Park on 5th Avenue. Beginning
in March, however, the meetings will move to the second
Monday of the month at the Elk’s Club on 6851 Wire Road in
Zephyrhills. Bring your art supplies and join in as the creative
juices flow. Membership dues are a nominal $25.00 per year.
The Zephyrhills Art Club boasts roughly seventy-five members
with a full house during season meet-ups and more intimate
gatherings when the snowbirds
fly back home. The club
holds plein air events, organizes
art workshops and classes,
and holds mini membership
showings with awards. They
top things off with an annual
judged art exhibit. This year
g
the exhibit will be held on March 10th and 11th at the Elk’s
Lodge in Zephyrhills. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
There will be refreshments and the judging includes a People’s
Choice award, so be sure to include your vote! The images
included in this article are paintings by members Joyce Owens
(happy turtle), Sandra Lallemand (parrots) and Nelida DiLorenzo
(Iris). For more information about the club or the exhibit
