Jerry Messman
Jerry Messman was born inWoodstock, Illinois in 1948, and is the oldest of six
kids. He attended both, the University of Illinois and the University of Minnesota,
receiving his degree in Architecture in 1971. He has been a recreational artist all
of his life, while working as an architect for a variety of firms in the Midwest, and
currently in Tampa, Florida.
In 2003, Jerry decided to focus more on his artwork. He now works part time as
an architect, and part time an artist. His media of choice has been pastel, where he
enjoys the look and feel of the chalk, and the direct relationship to the piece.
He also enjoys doing some work in acrylics on board, and has produced sculptural
pieces from natural elements, such as tree branches. His architectural background
allows him to focus on details that bring a subject to reality.
