Power boaters from as many as
20 states return to the Emerald
Coast for a major recreational
boating event mid-August, as over
one hundred teams and 500 attendees
participate in this poker run for local
charities.
The event is hosted by Florida
Powerboat Club, which now
celebrates its 20th year of staging
this 120-mile rally. Each poker run
team has the mission of gathering
poker card vouchers, in an attempt
to win the best poker hand, and
hopefully take home the event’s first
place prize...a new Harley Davidson
motorcycle from Emerald Coast
Harley Davidson, or the grand prize, a
$25,000 new car from OffleaseOnly, a
privately owned Florida car dealer.
Pensacola area residents can see the
high-performance poker run boats
Saturday, August 18, as they visit our
hot-spots including Bamboo Willie’s
at the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk,
and organizers promise that a new
lunch checkpoint may be offered along
the downtown Pensacola waterfront.
As of this release date, FPC
president Stu Jones, has indicated that
four area charities will benefit from
fund-raising efforts, which will be
conducted during Powerboat Week
supporting events at Destin’s Emerald
Grande and Harborwalk Village.
