inopathy, macular degeneration and
other vision-disrupting eye diseases.
In contrast to dye-based angiography,
OCTA uses only a dim light that isn’t
detected by the human eye. This light
is used to scan the back of the eye.
Based on subtle variations in how the
light is reflected back to its detector
during fast, sequential scans, the
OCT instrument is able to detect
moving red blood cells and reconstruct
the anatomy of the eye and its
layered vasculature.
ADVANTAGES OF OCTA
For the patient, OCTA is more comfortable,
safer and easier than dyebased
angiography, and for the doctors,
it provides a wealth of detailed
vascular information that combines
the benefits of dye-based angiography
with traditional OCT imaging.
OCTA is a very beneficial and
breakthrough technology that allows
Doctors Deupree and Tolentino to
make informed and more critical
decisions in terms of diagnosis and
treatment for their patients. There
are still many times that traditional
dye tests are indicated and needed,
but the addition of OCTA will reduce
invasive scans and enhance the care
of their patients.
Doctors Deupree and Tolentino are
both currently accepting new patients.

FLU SEASON
DO'S & DON'T'S
FLU SHOT | Vaccination is the
best way to help protect against
flu. It can also reduce the risk of fluassociated
hospitalization and help
reduce the severity of illness in people who get vaccinated but still get sick.
SICK? STAY HOME | If you have fever and respiratory symptoms, stay home until 24
hours after the fever lowers to 100˚ F or below.
WASH HANDS | Wash frequently with soap & water for 20 seconds; use an alcoholbased
hand rub if soap and water are unavailable.
HIGH RISK | Talk to your doctor to learn about your risks. Some examples of high risk
people include: small children, elderly people, pregnant women, asthma sufferers.
