Major Initiatives And Departmental Activities
The 64th Street Boat Ramp project is the result of a collaborative
completed the extensive preliminary work for the project, including:
wetland mitigation with Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE)
and the Army Corps of Engineers; Critical Area approval; Stormwater
Management Environmental Site Design (ESD) approval; Sediment &
Erosion Control approval through Worcester Soil Conservation District
(WSCD); and securing of funding for the project through the MD DNR
Waterway Improvement Fund. The Waterway Improvement Fund
(DBF) was selected as the design consultant and successfully completed
development of the plans for the site and boat ramp.
The construction of the 64th Street Boat Ramp was managed by
Work/Boat Ramp portion which was completed in May 2017 by Murtech
Marine, Inc. and the Comfort Station portion which was completed
below budget. The boat ramp is located at the intersection of 64th
Street and Seabay Drive, at the base of the Town’s water tower. The

boat ramp was dredged to a depth of -4.0 MLW in September 2016.

Community-Police Outreach
held two community events to provide our community the opportunity
Attendees had the rare opportunity to meet each of the four police horses
the daily procedure for grooming and tacking the horses as well
as each horse exhibited their expertise on completing an obstacle
course. The horses also played a 2-on-2 soccer game, which is used
for de-sensitivity training. Additionally, part of the open house also
Belgian Malinios, who performed two demonstrations throughout the
afternoon. The K-9 unit featured obedience skills, an overview of the
specific training the dog has had in order to assist law-enforcement
personnel, and personal information about Klem such as his place
of origin and daily life.
