Ladies Golf Association
NOTE FROM PRESIDENT MARY KAY HEATH
October was a busy month for us. Weekly tournaments and the
GlenLakes Cup was played on the 198h and 19th. On the 265h
Congratulations to the new Board, Karolyn Stokley, President,
Sally Kasten, Vice President, Diane Ashburn, Secretary and Becky
Whitaker, Treasurer.
I would like to thank Annette Davis and her Nominating
Committee for a great job handling our Election. The turnout for
your great show of support for our Association. We all thank you
for your support and look forward to working with all of you to
make our Association better than ever in 2019. I hope to see all
of you at the Opening Day on January 3rd 2019.
USGA RULES OF GOLF 2019 - MODERNIZED RULES
BEGINNING January 1, 2019 THE FOLLOWING NEW RULES
ARE IN EFFECT.
Repairing Spike Marks on Putting Green - Golfers are allowed
to repair spike marks and other damage on the putting green
before putting.
Putting with Flagstick in the Hole - There will be no penalty if you
from the green.
Searching for the ball - The time limit for ball searches is reduced
How to drop a ball - When dropping a ball you will be required to
drop it from knee height, not shoulder height.
Penalty areas- Committees will have more authority to declare
and mark certain areas on the course as penalty areas. In these
areas players will be allowed to move loose impediments and
ground their club (currently not allowed in hazards).
Double hit - A double hit will just count as one stroke (penalty
stroke is being removed).
Hitting yourself or your equipment – There is no penalty stroke if
your ball strikes yourself, your partner, or your equipment.
Bunkers - You may remove loose impediments and there will
be no penalty for generally touching the sand. You still will not
be able to ground your club next to your ball. A relief option is
and drop behind the bunker.
Stroke and Distance: Optional local rule – An optional Local Rule
can be implemented giving players an additional option when
their ball is lost or out of bounds. This Local Rule will allow a
player to drop a ball near the edge of the fairway at an estimated
distance that is the same as where their ball is lost or out of
bounds. It will cost the player two penalty strokes. So, instead of
returning to the tee (or the last place you played from) you may
take two penalty strokes and follow the options in this Local Rule.
I wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy New
Year.
