On stage and in the
studio, New York City
based vocalist and
songwriter Shayna
Steele proves she is a
vocal force to be reckoned
with. Her appearance
on Ed Mc-
Mahon’s Star Search
at the age of 15 was
her first experience
performing in front of
a nationally televised
audience. She has since recorded vocals for Moby
as well as on the Hairspray movie soundtrack, The
Bourne Legacy, Sex and the City 2, NBC’s Smash, and
HBO’s The Sopranos. Recently, she reprised her role
with the Dynamites in NBC’s Hairspray Live.
After appearing on Broadway in RENT, Jesus Christ
Superstar and the original cast of Hairspray, Steele
started writing music with partner David Cook. The
Cassidy Catanzaro’s
ability to traverse
multiple octaves
across an uncannily
wide vocal
spectrum makes her
an incredible performer.
Perhaps this
is the reason why
the critics loved her
in Parallel Worlds,
why her fans across
the country buy her
records, and industry insiders, including legendary
Rolling Stone journalists and major television
network executives, shower her with accolades.
Robert Plant and Janis Joplin are everyone’s “goto”
references when describing her ability to bring

the house down with every song she sings. Those
that have seen her perform up close will argue that
her heart is her true instrument and what makes
her genuine, which is why everything she sings
resonates with emotion. Perhaps this is the reason
why her name appears with the likes of Demi Lovato,
Steven Tyler, Gregg Allman, O.A.R., Steve Perry
and Rob Thomas as collaborator and compadre.
She has sold over a million records as the lead singer
and creative engine of the Lava/Atlantic group
Antigone Rising. She has toured with The Rolling
Stones and Aerosmith and has appeared on the
Tonight Show. As a songwriter, her composition For
You was recently featured on the Demi Lovato Confident
album. While working on a new solo record,
she is touring North America with Women Rock. She
has used her voice as an advocate of human rights
and environmental issues, and is a certified Yogi.

two quickly developed a creative synergy, collaborating
on Steele’s eponymous debut EP in 2004. She
was soon sought after by clubs in Los Angeles, San
Francisco, New York City, Milan, Rome and Zurich.
Steele and her band continue to tour extensively
throughout Europe, Africa and North America. In
2013, her original song Gone Under was recorded live
for DVD on Snarky Puppy’s Family Dinner, Volume 1.
Steele has performed with the Long Beach Symphony
Orchestra, Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra,
Rochester Symphony Orchestra and Grand
Rapids Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she has
worked as a sideman with Lizz Wright, Bette Midler,
Natasha Bedingfield, John Legend, Matthew Morrison,
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton,
Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson.
Steele released her second full length album, RISE
on Ropeadope Records in 2015 to rave reviews. Her
third solo album was released in March 2018.
