Dentistry is one field in which technological advancements have truly
brought about amazing benefits for today's patients. Yet many people
remain unaware of the extent to which technology has minimized the discomfort
and inconvenience that they may associate with dental procedures.
CEREC SINGLE APPOINTMENT
DENTAL RESTORATIONS
One of the most exciting tools making
a difference for dental patients today
is the CEREC System. In a nutshell,
CEREC is a high-tech instrument that
helps dentists restore damaged teeth
by the fabrication of all-ceramic dental
restorations in a single office visit.
Traditionally-prepared restorations
such as a crown require at least two
office visits. At your first visit, the
tooth is prepared, an impression is
taken, and a temporary restoration
is installed. A few weeks later, you
return for the removal of the temporary
restoration and subsequent placement
of the permanent crown.
With the CEREC System, we take a
high-precision optical impression
of the tooth using a special camera.
Then, with computer-aided design
technology, the restoration is designed
directly from the optical impression
in our office while you wait.
Within about 15 minutes, computer
aided manufacturing produces a
precise restoration of tooth-colored
ceramic material. We are ready to attach
the newly milled restoration then
and there, leaving more of the healthy
portion of the tooth than traditional
crowns.
STRENGTH, BEAUTY & HEALTH
The ceramic material used in the
CEREC System helps restore teeth
to their natural beauty, strength and
function. They not only look great,
they more closely match the composition
of the tooth's natural structure
than amalgam, gold and other metals.
Not all patients are necessarily good
candidates for this procedure, however.
In many cases, traditional restorations
will still be appropriate. We
