1r Vietnamese Fusion
(South of North, 257 E. Main St.) —
The flavors come together in fresh ways at
this stylish eatery. Naan Mi is a twist on
the traditional Báhn Mi — tandoori naan
stuffed with hangar steak, sticky pork belly
or tandoori chicken. The Kimcheez features
house kimchi with buttermilk cheddar and
smoked gouda served on sourdough.
Mix a little mountain air with
some outdoor activity and,
suddenly, what’s for dinner (or
breakfast or lunch!) becomes
the most important question
of the day. Turns out, altitude does
affect appetite!
Fortunately, the Blue
Ridge mountains are
home to some truly
inspired chefs. Homegrown
favorites include
the proverbial meat-andthree,
as well as smoky barbecue,
delectable pasta and fresh trout. And
several cutting-edge chefs from across
the South have heeded the call of the
mountains and brought fine dining to
our area with tantalizing appetizers
and full-course meals.
And did you know? You can enjoy
beer, wine and mixed drinks at select
Fannin County restaurants (even on
Sundays in the city of Blue Ridge).

While you’ll definitely want
to visit the restaurants in Blue
Ridge, Morganton and the
Copper Basin, don’t forget
that many local stores also
sell fresh produce, specialty
meats, cheeses, wines and other
delicacies to bring back to the cabin
— or take on a picnic.
See pages 43-47 for
special dining offers.
