How has faith played a role in your public
service?
My faith has played a significant role in my public
service. I mentioned in one of your earlier
questions about growing-up as the child of a
Baptist preacher. Today, I serve faithfully at my
church, Faith Temple Ministries Church of God In
Christ. I look at my service on the Memphis City
Council as an extension of my faith. The good
works that we do for others are a testimony to
God’s grace and mercy that he has shown in my
life. Not often in life do you have the opportunity
to walk in your gift and/or calling. I have been
blessed to be able to do what God has called me to
do, and that is be a blessing to all of God's
children as a servant leader.
