Being in Florida it was a no brainer to install Vintage
Air, with that we also added power steering at
the same time. I also got rid of the tires and went back
to the Firestone Wide Ovals and Rally Wheels from
Coker Tires. The thing about these are we chose the
Radials instead of Bias Ply for original look but better
performance.
For the interior it had after market gauges and an
updated radio. We went ahead and scrapped the radio
and went with the RetroSound Long Beach radio
XM. We also added an original style center console.
When we started looking in the mechanics of the
car and the restoration that was done Darrel found
improper installation and safety concerns. Whoever
did the restoration ran the fuel lines almost touching
the headers so they shortened and reran them.
We did notice it was running hot and with the radi-
car and electric fans not putting out adequate power
still plenty to go to get everything as stock or original
as possible but the team at Main Street Automotive
has gotten it back to it’s natural beauty and the way I
feel they should be kept.
Now the only thing left for it is to be driven, and
I hope that my father and rest of my family enjoy it.
