
NCRGEA Seeking Board of Directors Candidates
NCRGEA is seeking candidates for District Directors to serve on the NCRGEA Board of Directors beginning
July 2020. If you might be interested in being on our Board of Directors or learning more information,
please contact Richard Rogers, our NCRGEA Executive Director at richard@ncrgea.com or 800-356-
1190 to request a Candidate application. All requests for Candidate applications must be received by
February 28, 2020.
All applicants for the Board of Directors will be provided a schedule for applicant review upon receipt of
their application. If you are interested learning more about the role of Board of Directors but do not live in
the districts with current upcoming vacancies listed, we still would like to hear from you for future opportunities
as a Board director or if you have an interest in becoming more involved with our Association.
NCRGEA has nine districts across the state. The districts and the counties represented by each district
that will have a Director vacancy are listed below along with a brief overview of Board member responsibilities.
Board members must live in any one of the counties listed in a district.
The following district will have Director vacancies as of June 30, 2020.
District 2 Covers the following counties: Ashe, Alleghany, Surry, Wilkes, Yadkin, Avery, Caldwell,
Watauga, Alexander, Burke, Catawba, Lincoln, Iredell, Rowan
District 5 Covers the following counties: Craven, Pamlico, Jones, Lenoir, Greene, Pitt, Wayne, Beau-
Northampton, Hertford, Gates, Chowan, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck
1) Be a retiree from a North Carolina state or local government agency.
4) Be able to attend board meetings, committee meetings/calls, local meetings of retirees, association’s
lobby days, and other activities supporting retirees and our association.
NCRGEA holds three regular Board meetings in Raleigh each year. Board member elections are held
at the June meeting and new Board Director terms are effective July 1st. Board members serve three-
reimbursed and hotel expenses for Board members, who due to the distance from Raleigh need to stay
overnight on the evening prior to a Board or Committee meeting. Board members also participate in the
annual Lobby Day at the General Assembly and serve on one or more of the standing committees which
oversee the various program areas of our association.
