recipient of the United
States Society for
Education Through Art
(USSEA) 2020 Award for
Excellence in PK-12 Art

Members of Missouri Future Business Leaders of
America – Phi Beta Lambda Chapter from Nixa High
School recently competed in the Missouri Future
Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda District
18 Leadership Conference. Nixa High School brought
home 20 medals and 10 students qualified for State in
17 different events. The following students qualified for
the FBLA State Conference in their event at MSU April
19-21: Amanda Eckels, Dallin Attwooll, Preston
Roesslet, Brady Vaughan, Taylor Steele, Isaiah
Holgerson, Nora Woosley, Aaron Hardner, and Wyatt
Krawczyk.
JROTC ROBOTICS TEAM
The JROTC VEX Robotics team
competed against 46 teams at a
tournament in Ladue, MO where
they finished 2nd Overall
(Tournament Finalists) in the
competition. Additionally, Team A
won a trophy as the Robot SKILLS
Champion and is now ranked 3rd
overall for high school teams in
the tate of Missouri and 1st
overall for JROTC teams in the
Nation.

SKILLSUSA TEAM PLACES
FIRST IN DISTRICT
The SkillsUSA team placed first in
district, competing against teams from
surrounding area vocational technical
schools. They will be traveling to the
State contest the first week of April. The
SkillsUSA team consists of: Anthony
Lehmann, Matt Mitchell, Evan Doyle, and
Tori Crandall.
The students who are on the team are Ariel Sheckley, AJ
McNeal, Aiden Ewald, Lance Barnhardt, Micah
Cranfield, and Hunter Greenwalt
CRAIG FINGER RECEIVED
JOHN EAST SPIRIT AWARD
Craig Finger, Nixa band director, was
awarded the “The John East Spirit of
Orpheus Mentor Award.” It is awarded to
the band director who has served as a role
model and mentor for other band directors
and has served in leadership positions with
the Missouri Music Educators Association
(MMEA).
"John East was my mentor when I first started
teaching at Mountain Grove and passed away
suddenly in 1999. To be recognized by my
peers with an award in his name is a special
moment in my career," says Craig Finger.
Congratulations to the
student staff of the 2019 Nixa
High School Yearbook. They
won a First Class award from
the National Scholastic Press
Association. The yearbook
was judged on these
categories: Essentials,
Coverage, Writing & Editing,
Design, and Photography.
