Italian Wines
At A Glance
With the holidays over and the Summer season
not yet started let’s discover some new and
fresh Italian wines this time. I’ve decided to
choose six of my personal favorite Italian grapes
for this article. I know everyone recognizes Pinot
Grigio and Chianti so I wanted to step outside the
usual Italian wine box and highlight some you
may not know. Yet!
White Wine
Gavi A
ctually the grape for this wine is called
Cortese, but the wine itself is produced as Gavi.
The name is given to this wine as part of the
30 Palm Beach Visitor Information Guide
DOCG of Gavi region. The aromas of Gavi can be
quite pleasant with almonds, citrus fruits and
with citrus notes and high acidity. There a few
names to refer to these wines; Cortese di Gavi,
Gavi di Gavi, etc… This is a perfect wine to sip
and chat with friends.
Arneis
This is a beautiful Italian white grape originating
from Piedmont. Literally translated it means
“little rascal” in Piedmontese: mainly because it is
-
ral, but the actual taste is dry and full-bodied with
hints of apricots, pears, peaches and nuts.
