Dear Jesuit Alumni, Parents, and Friends
The publication of the President’s Annual Report
for 2019-20 gives me the opportunity, more
important now than ever, to thank our whole
community of friends and benefactors for your
inspiring support last year and into this year.
Jesuit’s faculty and school leadership have met
the challenges of the pandemic, quarantine,
and the full reopening of school with energy,
compassion, expertise, and creativity. It has
surely been one of the finest moments in the
school ’s history.
One of the great difficulties we have faced has
been the question of financial aid. The economic
effects of the shutdown continue to touch many
of our families. The percentage of students on
financial aid has grown from 30%, where it has
been for many years, to 40% for the current year.
We have committed more than $3 million dollars
to financial assistance for the coming year,
by far the most ever. Every dollar of financial
assistance makes a deep and long-lasting impact
on the students who receive a Jesuit education.
Your generosity last year directly assisted our
families in need, supported the faculty and
staff at a critical time, and allowed us to adjust
quickly to the new realities of the pandemic
without sacrificing the Jesuit experience. Your
support ensures that Jesuit’s mission endures
and thrives in the face of every challenge. We
hope you can join us again this year in support
of our students, faculty, and staff.
In Christ,
Rev. R ichard C. Hermes, S.J.
