Want to learn more about the
creatures and waters surrounding
Tybee Island? Visit the Tybee Island
Marine Science Center between 10am
and 5pm and discover our abundant
marine life. Join one of the many
Marine Science Educator-Guided
Walks including Talks & Treks! Walk
through the gallery with educators, like
curator Chantal Audran, and view the
ocean creatures residing within. Sign
up for a class and walk the beach,
cast nets into the ocean, learn about
turtles, or trek through the marsh.
Pack a beach bag for an adventure and visit the
Marine Science Center where learning becomes a
hands-on experience! Kids of all ages will investigate
the Tybee shoreline and have a chance to learn
about the lives of its inhabitants! Since opening
its doors to the public in 1988, the Marine Science
Center has educated over 80,000 school aged
children through their Coastal Classroom programs.
These two-hour classes give the children an
opportunity to learn about marine life both in and
out of the classroom.
Tybee Island residents and visitors are getting ready
for the opening of the innovative new facility-
scheduled to open Spring 2021. The new facility is
located on the northern end of Tybee Island, near
marine residents, as well as new additions to the
marine family.
