Do you know why an organization
has a mission statement? The simple
answer is that it tells what an
organization does; it’s purpose.
It also explains the value delivered,
the group it serves, and how.
Our mission for SFSC Performing Arts
is to offer opportunities for cultural
and educational enrichment by
providing a wide array of performances,
concerts, presentations,
exhibits, and special events for the
benefit of the College’s service
district of Highlands, Hardee, and
DeSoto counties.
It’s been a challenge this season to deliver on our mission with
national tours cancelling, artists declining to travel and tours
rescheduling to 2021-2022. Because we are committed to our
mission, the staff has adapted, amended, revised, and bent
backwards to bring high quality performances to our stage. From
implementing new health and safety protocols to adjusting
contracts and terms with the artists, we are fulfilling that mission
during this challenging time.
We encourage you to join us at our socially distanced performances
to enrich, entertain, and amuse you. If you love music, I
highly recommend the exceptional Canadian Brass, who are
renowned for genre-bending versatility, joyous performances,
and showmanship. Everyone remembers the huge hits “Key
Largo,” “Casablanca,” and “Just Another Day in Paradise” and
international recording artist Bertie Higgins will transport you to
the tropics during his matinee performance. Johnny Peers and
Muttville Comix is a delightful family comedy with over a dozen
hilarious pooches, and children’s tickets are only $10. Billy Joel
fans will love Tony Monaco and Turnstiles with their energetic
tribute to the Piano Man and, coming in March, is the most
popular Beach Boys tribute in the USA, Sail On. Don a face mask
and join us for safe, live entertainment.
We hope that you value what we do as much as we value you:
our patrons, sponsors, and donors.
See you at the show,
w,
Cindy Garren, M.F.A.,, Director of
Cultural Programs
