Our cover article Transformation of the Arabian Peninsula
studies the recent fulfillment of one of the two major
prophesies cited in the famous hadith of Jibril e. The modern
world we live in and the fuel that keeps its cogs moving
are referenced in this mother of all prophesies and augments
our belief in the Prophet a who saw it transpire 1400
years ago.
In his article introduction of Islam in the Indian Subcontinent,
M. Yousuf Ahad recounts the lifelong mission of the Sufi extraordinaire
Khawaja Mu‘eenuddin Chishti to bring Islam
into the Subcontinent. His fascinating life story debunks the
banal and propagandist argument that Islam was spread by
the sword. His asceticism, simplicity, and compassion endeared
the Subcontinental peoples to him and attracted
millions into the folds of Islam. It is most unfortunate that a
few corrupt elements misrepresenting Tasawwuf tarnished
the name of the Sufiyya, otherwise their glowing contributions
to the spread of Islam is a glorious chapter of our Islamic
history.
Every child is born a Muslim but many children born in
North American Muslim homes are inadvertently being
raised atheist. The recent murder-suicide case of Farhan
Tauhid and his farewell note to the world identifies a growing
phenomenon of Muslim Tiger parents in the West who
fail to teach their children the most valuable thing in life:
the meaning of life. M. Dawud Alcox addresses this pressing
matter in his article Is there a meaning to life.
