To give each butterfly a realistic, dimensional
appearance, mold the butterfly’s wings into a
lifted shape, using your hands to fold and guide
the wings into the desired position. After all, a
flat butterfly does not give the same effect to a
display or installation as one with more dynamiclooking
movement. Next, you will want to help
reinforce the shape of the butterfly. For this
method, Wilson suggests using the hot glue
to run two diagonal beads of glue left to right,
crossing the middle of the butterfly’s backside.
The glue should create an X shape on the back
of the butterfly, acting as a sort of "skeleton" to
help maintain the arched shape once dry.
