100 Years Old!!!
A confectionery institution in Kentucky since 1921
2021 was an exciting year for Ruth Hunt Candy Co. marking 100 years since Ruth Tharpe Hunt
opened a candy store and began to share her confections with the world.
This year a documentary: “A History of Sweetness, 100 years of Ruth Hunt Candy” was produced
by Steven Middleton, a Kentucky documentary filmmaker and instructor at Morehead State
University. We were thrilled that the documentary was shown state-wide on KET.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear presented us with an acclamation for 100 years of service,
Lexington’s Mayor, Linda Gorton, proclaimed August 5 the Official Ruth Hunt Day. Our bank,
Traditional, honored us with an inscribed clock and donations to our charity of choice. We
aired our documentary at the Judy Drive-In Theater and the Art Center, and spread the cheer
at a Mt. Sterling Chamber Event where Mayor Al Botts gave a heartfelt recognition of our
accomplishments and presented us with a key to the city.
We pledge to continue the tradition of Ruth Hunt Candies to ‘make delicious candy
that we can be proud of and that makes our customers happy and feel good’
for the next 100 years. “Thank you!” to all our customers
and friends for their support through the years.
