DR. FITZ TIPS: ANTI-AGING SECRETS
WhEn DR. FiTzgERAlD
opened Purelife Medi-Spa in
October 2013, he saw the need
for a unique, holistic approach to
making people look and feel beautiful.
“While many medi-spas nationwide
focus almost solely on aesthetics, we
know that beauty truly is far more than
skin-deep. That’s why we treat not only
the skin, but the whole body,” says Dr.
Fitzgerald.
Tampa Bay Magazine caught up with
Dr. Fitz in between patients to talk about
what we need to know about anti-aging treatments and
trends.
Is there a fountain of youth?
Purelife Medi-Spa focuses on “youth maintenance” rather
than “anti-aging.” it’s not the years in your life that count. it’s
the life in your years. looking and feeling great is less about
your age than it is about having a positive outlook and a
healthy body. Wrinkles can be eliminated, but negativity is
toxic to the mind, body and spirit.
What happens to our skin as we age and how can we
reverse these effects?
The natural aging process, combined with exposure to sun
and pollution, destroys collagen – the main protein of
connective tissue that keeps skin plump and line-free. nonsurgical

cosmetic procedures can diminish and prevent the
signs of aging. These include Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) with
microneedling, TriPollar skin tightening, body contouring,
intense Pulse light Therapy (iPl) and chemical peels, which
can deliver powerful results.
I see my mother’s face in the mirror. What procedure
minimizes wrinkles?
This can be done several ways. neuromodulators (Botox,
Dysport) relax the muscles and minimize facial lines. Dermal
fillers volumize skin and soften the lines as well. Dermal
fillers are also known to stimulate collagen production.

Why is a healthy diet, exercise
and a low BMI important for staying
young?
Science-based weight loss plans help
you shed not just pounds, but toxins,
stress and health risks as well. You can
also add anti-oxidants (CoQ10 and
vitamins C and E) to your regime. These
skin-care nutrients fight aging by
destroying free radicals, the unstable
molecules that occur from sun exposure
or pollution and that can literally gobble
up the skin’s collagen supply. Use skin

care products with these and other anti-aging ingredients
(such as Peptides and Retinol A). Equally important is to wear
sunscreen.
