ON SWANN
Next time you are wandering the ultrawalkable
Hyde Park Village, pop into
On Swann. Not only is the casual chic
atmosphere a perfect setting to unwind
with charcuterie and a glass of wine, but
their oysters are delicious too! They are
warm roasted and topped with a sambal
butter (Sambal is a chili sauce native
to Indonesia and Malaysia), garlic and
lemon.
SEA SALT
Downtown St. Pete dishes out their fair
share of oysters via Sea Salt. Known for
their extensive 4000 bottle wine tower,
they offer an equally impressive seafood
and drink menu. As for oysters on the
half shell, they offer Pacific, East Coast
and Gulf oysters. Alternatively, try their
baked oysters prepared to Rockefeller
(crab, raisin tomato, pernod spinach) or
Tartufata (black truffle, burrata, leek)
styles. Sea Salt also has happy hour Gulf
oysters for $1, Monday-Thursday.
ROOSTER & THE TILL
Contributing to the success of the
Seminole Heights food scene is Rooster
& The Till. This community hotspot
(and Creative Loafing 2016 Best
Restaurant Award winner) has quite the
refined menu and wide-ranging wine
list. Amongst their all-star tabled and
sharable plates are their oysters, served
on the half shell with a zesty lemon
ginger ice and aji panca
vinegar.
OYSTER BAR
By its name alone, you
may think St. Pete’s Oyster
Bar has an omakase-style
presentation. Instead we
interpret it as a fabulous
oyster restaurant with an
exceptional bar. Raw East,
West and Apalachicola
coast oysters are served alongside
a sizeable menu of cooked
options. One of our favorites is
their “You’re My Boy Blue”—
baked oysters served with spicy
pickled cherry peppers and a blue
cheese fondue.
FISH CAMP AT THE HALL ON
FRANKLIN
Fish Camp shells out delicious
Florida finds in The Hall on
Franklin. Larissa Pepe of Fish
Camp notes, “Staying true to
Florida was important to us
as Apalachicola is rooted with
history and oyster dwellers,
and we think they are often
overlooked in the grand scheme
of things. It also allows us to keep our
prices affordable and approachable.”
Currently Fish Camp has 3 oyster
offerings: raw (half dozen/dozen),
Rockefeller (béchamel with andouille
sausage and spinach), and BBQ Butter
Broiled.
