ST. PETE VS TAMPA IN
FIRST ANNUAL FOOD FIGHT
The first annual Tampa Bay Food Fight culinary competition took place
month at the St. Petersburg Coliseum. The night benefited Metropolitan
Ministries and their Inside The Box Culinary Arts Program (ITB-CAP), which helps
student earn their food handler certification. The friendly competition pits
St. Pete chefs against Tampa chefs in an all out fight for “best culinary city in the bay”
rights. Team St. Pete was comprised of Luke Decker (The Birchwood), Matthew
Brennan (Paul’s Landing), Jeffrey Jew, (Bella Brava & Stillwaters Tavern), Ted Dorsey (The
Mill), Tyson Grant (Parkshore Grill) and Rob Reinsmith (Noble Crust). Team Tampa was
represented
by Michael Buttacavoli (Cena), Chad Johnson (Haven and Élevage), Antoine
Ludcene (Cask Social Kitchen), Robert Masson (717 South), Richard Anderson (Oxford
Exchange) and Ryan Mitchell (Fresh Kitchen). Team Tampa came out victorious this year
but Team St. Pete has another shot next year when the event moves to an undisclosed
Tampa location on October 16, 2018.
FarmTable Cucina
NOW FULL-SERVICE
ITALIAN-INSPIRED
RESTAURANT
FarmTable Kitchen has evolved
into the FarmTable Cucina an
Italian-inspired full-service
restaurant. The new FarmTable
Cucina will utilize regional sources
and carefully curated ingredients
and focus on rustic dishes
including house-made pastas,
pizzas and fresh baked breads.
The expansion has allowed for
more than 200 seats including
indoor and outdoor seating.
Celebrity Chef Michael Mina describes the new restaurant as one of
his favorite styles of dining. He states, “It’s casual, family-style with
sharing plates and authentic dishes that combine the highest quality
ingredients to bring flavor to every bit.”
Watervue Grill
SET TO OPEN ON HARBOUR ISLAND
The owner of Café Dufrain and Cry Baby Café, Andrew
Bonnemort, is opening his third Harbour Island eatery this
month. The Watervue Grille concept will focus heavily on fresh
Florida seafood while also bringing diverse flavors to the menu
in a waterfront setting along with the best views of Downtown
Tampa. One of Watervue Grille’s most unique features is its
proximity to Harbour Island’s public boat dock. We love that the
restaurant will provide waterfront dining to patrons arriving by
both land and sea. Watervue Grill will open at 700 Harbour Post
Drive sometime in November.
