By George Walker - Commander American Legion Post 154
The Veteran’s Day parade went great. The Chatham County Veterans
Council once again did a fantastic job of coordinating the one hundred plus
units that participated.
We also want to thank all the people who came out to show their
appreciation to the veterans of this great nation.
Christmas is almost here and we ask that everyone to take the time
while shopping for presents, to remember the “Reason for the Season.”
Our annual, compliments of the Ladies
Auxiliary, will be on December 9th at 6pm. Sign up your child by
December 1st. Forms are available at Post 154. Ages are baby to 10 years.
Covered dish please.
On Sunday, December 11th, we are having our
. Bring a wrapped gift (unique presents are welcome), get
a wrapped gift. The party starts at 6pm and is also a covered dish dinner
with some really “off the wall” presents.
The Post will be open New Year’s Eve. Come by the Post to get a start
before going to the fireworks display on the south end.
We continue to look for new members. If you’re interested in the Legion,
Ladies Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion call the Post (786-5356)
for information.
Bingo is on Fridays at 8pm. Cards go on sale at 7pm. This is a family
affair open to the public and everyone is invited to participate. Almost
$1,500 in prizes are given each week.
The American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary meet on the second Monday
of the month, with social hour (and food) starting at 6pm with the meeting
at 7pm. The Sons of the American Legion meet on the third Monday at
7pm.
As always, Linda or Joseph will open the canteen at 5pm every day
except Sunday. We are closed on Sunday unless there is a special event.

the Beachcomber since our debut and has certainly earned her moment in
the spotlight! Writing the Book Review, Nell gives us the scoop on featured
books that y’all need to know about. Nell is an avid book reader and loves
to share her findings. When she is not reading, you can find Nell most days
at the Wind Rose Café, her first love, which is the only place in town to
find the best home cooking in all of the land! Not to mention the drinks are
kick ass! Nell confided her answers to the four basic questions of life:

faithful, kind-hearted, conservative, lively and enthusiastic. Not to mention
