window got attacked,” Howard says.
“The only person we saw that might have gotten away was Crabber
Brian,” Rudy added before mumbling under his breath, “and I was kind of
glad he got chased off.”
“Carrie and I were with him,” Jay replied, ignoring that comment. “He
saw you guys and we planned the rescue mission to save you guys from
impending doom. Carrie is on the boat waiting on us to go back to Little
Tybee. Brian, Becky and Nate are already over there.”
“Damn,” Rudy says. “Now I feel like a douche.”
“Don’t,” Tony replies. “He initially came here to loot Jameson.”
“So, what’s the plan?” asks Rudy. “Howard can’t run with his bad back
and those things are fast.”
“We were thinking we’d toss him into the trash cart and haul tail back
to the boat,” Jay says. “It’s safe on Little Tybee and we’ve got some
supplies to sustain us for a bit. You guys heard anything about what’s
going on?”
“Cable was out when we woke up and saw those things outside,”
Howard answers. “I can’t get Nell or Mark or anyone on the phone.”
“Damn. I was hoping you would have more info than we already have,”
Tony says. “Well, let’s get this show on the road. I don’t want to get stuck
off Little Tybee when the tide gets low.”
“I’ll bag up all the canned goods in the kitchen and you and Rudy can
grab anything useful from the courtyard dry storage,” says Jay.
“Sounds like a plan.”
Tony and Rudy head out to the courtyard to gather supplies and Jay
heads into the kitchen. He moves very slowly so he doesn’t attract the
attention of any geeks that may be admiring themselves in the window.
He is just about finished packing everything up when he notices a large
can of chili on the top shelf. He slowly stretches but can’t quite reach
it. Not wanting to push his luck he abandons the chili and slowly heads
for the door. As he turns, one of his bags catches the corner of a large
stainless-steel pan on the counter and it crashes to the floor. The kitchen
window implodes and six geeks spill through. Jay drops the bags and
rushes through the kitchen’s swinging door. He throws Howard over his
shoulder and bolts towards the back door. To be continued…

As a bartender myself, I tend to roll to the Grumpy side of the scene.
I see other bartenders being all Happy, Sleepy, Dopey, Bashful and
Sneezy, but I finally found a bartender that is Dasher, Dancer, Prancer,
Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen! of Fannie’s on
the Beach is our Christmas Rudolph this year and she full on embodies
all that is cheery! Always wearing a terrific smile (love braces!!) and a
congenial attitude of ‘how can I help you?’ vs. mine of ‘wtf do you want?’
Dawn is a perfect go-to for Christmas Cheer as well as any day cheer for
that matter!! I sat down with our girl and got the exclusive on what Mrs.
Ryan is all about.
Born and raised in Savannah, Dawn went to and graduated from
Savannah High School before dabbling briefly in college at both
Armstrong and Savannah Tech as a nursing student. It wasn’t meant to
be (God has his own plan y’all). So, while life is busy lifing along, Dawn
married her high school sweetheart, had two great kids and was going to
live happily ever after. At 24, she and her husband started working for his
parents who owned New Orleans Snow Balls. Every day they would go to
Johnson Square and sell Snow Balls. How cool is that?
In 1994, Dawn started working for South Bridge Golf Club and her history
was set. “I just absolutely loved it,” she says, and it got her started on
the path of where she is today. After working at Shuckers on River Street
(oh, the stories to be told on that one – hee hee!), she worked at a variety
of restaurants before she finally find her permanent home at Fannie’s on
the Beach.
Now, happily married to Sean Ryan, with three great kids, Chelsie, Rich
and Jordan, and one grandchild, Harper, life for Dawn is complete.
Dawn’s go-to masterpiece is called the “Boozy Floozy” and is just
perfect for any occasion! LOL! Dawn is a must visit bartender. She is
genuinely nice and makes one feel right at home instantly. Go get your
Boozy Floozy from Dawn Ryan at Fannie’s on the Beach and tell her that
braces are cool!
