In addition to the benefactors event, a Peeples Cancer Institute Open House and ribbon cutting was held on Saturday, February
1, 2020, to celebrate the facility’s completion and opening with the greater Dalton community. Over 300 members of the
community attended the afternoon event. Joining community members and the Peeples family in celebration were president
of the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce Rob Bradham and other Chamber staff; president and CEO of Hamilton Health
Care System Jeff Myers and the Hamilton team; key project partners Realty Trust Group, Brasfield & Gorrie, and Earl Swensson
and Associates; and Scott Sellers, along with Foundation board members and supporters. The event began with dedication
remarks, followed by the Chamber ribbon cutting outdoors in the plaza, with Shelby and Willena Peeples performing the
ribbon cutting honors surrounded by family. Community members took part in staff- and self-led tours, and guests enjoyed
light refreshments during the event.
Peeples Cancer Institute saw its first patients on January 6, 2020, and the Open House provided the greater community a
glimpse of the cutting-edge technologies, equipment, and services provided in the beautiful new facility. One guest who stood
in the light-filled Lyle Lobby in Peeples Cancer Institute remarked: “What a great day for Dalton and the surrounding area to
have a facility of this caliber for the residents of northwest Georgia. We should all be proud.”
