Richardson was a featured performer and
invited guest of the late Larry Rosen on the
PBS special “Jazz and the Philharmonic” with
a noted impromptu improvisation with vocal
master Bobby McFerrin, as well as Chick
Corea, Dave Grusin, Mark O’Connor, Terrence
Blanchard, baritone Eric Owens, Shelly Berg
and many other notable musicians. He also
recently choreographed for and was co-creative
director on the Sybille Szaggers Redford
production of The Way Of The Rain featured at
Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival with
notable musicians Will Calhoun, Chuck Palmer
and Dave Eggar. Richardson continues to give
back as a Master teacher with the AllStars
project NY, Young Arts Miami, United Way,
on Dance Conventions – The Pulse, NYCDA,
ASH and many others. He is involved in
various master workshops internationally and
domestically and is continually helping to
foster the next generation of artists with his
world-renowned dance company Complexions
Contemporary Ballet now celebrating its 23rd
year with Master Choreographer Dwight
Rhoden. His video collaboration with the
trumpet master Grammy® Award-winner
Terrance Blanchard “Magnetic” shot by Nitin
Vadukul was viewed with critical praise.
Richardson has also served as co-creative
director and choreographer with awardwinning
luxury lifestyle designer David Monn
for the Park Avenue Armory Gala, worked with
video director Alan Ferguson for Grammywinner
Jill Scott’s video “Back Together”
featuring dancers from Complexions, being an
assistant as part of the creative movement team
under direction Stephen Galloway (Collective
Shift) for fashion icon Tom Ford, creative
movement director for Jimmy Choo and
Banana Republic and worked with legendary
bassist Nile Rodgers on his video projects “I
want your love.”
Richardson is currently Guest Artist in
Residence at the new Glorya Kaufman
School of International Dance at University
of Southern California in Los Angeles by
personal invitation from Ms. Kaufman. In
addition, he is back in the studio recording new
music for his soon to be released LP.
DWIGHT RHODEN
(Founding Artistic Director,
Resident Choreographer)
has established a remarkably
wide-ranging career, earning
distinction from The New
York Times as “one of the
most sought out choreographers of the day.”
A native of Dayton, Ohio, who began dancing
at age 17, Rhoden has performed with
Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Les
Ballet Jazz De Montreal and as a principal
dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance
Theater. As a performer, he has appeared in
numerous television specials, documentaries
and commercials throughout the United
States, Canada and Europe and has been
a featured performer on many PBS Great
Performances Specials. In 1994, Rhoden
and legendary dancer Desmond Richardson
founded Complexions Contemporary Ballet.
Together they have brought their unique brand
of contemporary dance to the world for over
two decades. CCB is widely considered as
“America’s Original Multicultural Dance
Company,” and is celebrated for its pioneering
spirit, and the building of a universal brand
that continues to challenge traditional ideas,
and redefine possibilities in the dance arena.
Under Rhoden’s direction, Complexions has
become a dance institution that is much in
demand. Leading the way, as a destination
for innovation through courageous and
cutting-edge programming. Over the years,
Complexions has remained consistent in
delivering a profound passion for diversity that
has framed its vision and become its hallmark.
For over two decades, Rhoden’s choreography
has been the lynchpin in the development of
the Complexions repertory. For over 23 years,
Rhoden’s work has filled some of the most
prestigious theaters across the globe including,
