WASTE COLLECTION
Each cart plays a part
Lexington’s carts are color-coded. Please use each cart only
for its intended purpose.
+ Only put trash in the green trash cart.
+ Only put yard waste in the gray yard waste cart.
+ Only put recycling in the blue recycling cart.
See the corresponding tabs for information on what
Lexington accepts in each cart. Households receiving city
waste collection may take advantage of all three services at
no additional charge. If you need to request a new cart or
replace a broken one, contact LexCall 311.
Collection day
+ We collect all three carts on the same day once a

+ If your regular collection day falls on a holiday, your
makeup day will be on the Wednesday of that same week.
+ To report missed service, contact LexCall 311.
Leaf collection
Lexington offers citizens with city waste collection three
curbside methods for leaf disposal.
+ Gray yard waste cart
Place leaves in the gray yard waste cart and set out on
your regular collection day.
+ Paper yard waste bags
Put leaves in brown paper yard waste bags. Coupons for
free bags are provided in the At Your Service newsletter,
which the city mails to your home two times each year.
Set the bags on the curb for collection on your regular
collection day.
+ Vacuum program
Residents with city waste collection receive the leaf
vacuum service once each fall. Prepare leaves by
raking them to the grass strip between the street and
sidewalk. If there is no grass strip or if you have no
sidewalk, rake leaves to the edge of your lawn closest
to the street. Find out when your address is serviced at
LexingtonKY.gov/Leaves or by contacting LexCall 311.
