YARD WASTE COLLECTION
Tips
+ Only put yard waste in the gray yard waste cart or in
brown paper yard waste bags. Yard waste in plastic bags
will not be collected.
+ Never put grass clippings or leaves in the street. This can
hazards. It also pollutes local waterways.
+ Do not put rocks or dirt in the gray yard waste cart or
brown paper yard waste bags.
+ Do not place more than 200 pounds of waste in the gray
yard waste cart.
+ If you hire a landscaping company, make sure they
properly dispose of yard waste. They should not blow
material into the street.
Acceptable items
+ leaves
+ grass
+ tree/bush trimmings (cannot exceed 4 feet long or 6
inches wide)
+ other natural landscaping or gardening materials, such as
Holiday yard waste
Remove decorations, lights, hangers, wires, candles and
other non-organic material before placing these natural
items in the gray yard waste cart:
+ wreaths
+ poinsettias
+ garland
Remove all decorations and lights from your natural
Christmas tree. Place it at the curb on your regular
collection day for composting.
Proper cart set out
+ holly
+ pumpkins
+ gourds
+ Place carts at the curb after 4 p.m. the night before
collection or before 5 a.m. on collection day.
+ Remove carts before 7 p.m. on collection day.
+ Leave at least 3 feet between each cart and other
objects. This allows the automatic arm, which many of our
collection trucks use, to grab carts.
+ Do not place waste outside of carts except:
– green
trash cart (see Trash tab)
– tree/bush trimmings, properly bundled
(see Yard Waste tab)
– blue recycling cart,
properly perpared (see Recycling tab)
