Settlers Village
The ‘Settlers Village’ is
homed in Wheatland, Missouri.
It is also the location of our
‘Wheatland Fest’ held annually
in June. It celebrates and
represents our proud local and
national heritage.
Our ancestors, who settled
this raw country with only a
broadax, crosscut saw and other
hand tools built their homes and
raised their families here in these
and other homes (cabins) like
these. Some of the descendants
from those families, still remain
in Hickory County, Missouri.
Those who have left the area
can return to see the pride we
still hold for our strong spirited
pioneers.
The historical log
cabins, dating from the 1840’s to
the 1920’s, were donated from
families across Hickory, Polk,
Camden, St. Clair and Benton
Counties. These cabins were
moved and rebuilt, creating the
‘Settlers Village’. The village
includes a church (Akard) cabin,
blacksmith shop, stable & corn
crib, barn, homes/cabins and
guest cabins.
