Explore The Shore . . .
Pomme de Terre State Park offers guests a great place for family outdoor recreation.
The park is unique to the Missouri State Parks system in that it consists of two
completely separate management areas: the Pittsburg Area and the Hermitage Area, each
offering a range of recreation opportunities for the entire family. Another unique feature of
the park is that it is home to 240 campsites, more than any other Missouri state park. So,
Terre State Park has something fun for you and your family to do outdoors.
Cedar Bluff Trail on the Hermitage Area is a 1.5-mile natural surface trail that follows
rocky bluffs along both sides of an upland ridge offering spectacular views of the lake.
The Indian Point Trail on the Pittsburg Area is a 2.75 mile natural surface trail that snakes
through spectacular open woodlands to a natural overlook with panoramic views of the lake
scenery.

Hermitage Area
Each area of the park has its own campground. The Hermitage campground offers
level campsites in a grassy setting for the ideal family campout under the many large shade
trees. The campground also offers electric and basic campsites close to the water, hot
showers, a playground, laundry facilities and a dump station. A park store is conveniently
located at the entrance to the campground. The park store is open Friday, Saturday and
Sunday from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The store offers kayak
hand-dipped ice cream. A large swim beach with picnic sites and a boat launch is located
near the campground.
For lodging at the Hermitage Area, a secluded three bedroom Lake House is available.
Amenities include a full bathroom, central heat and air, television and laundry facilities.
Kitchen amenities include a gas range, microwave, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher and
dining table that seats six. Other conveniences include bath towels, bed linens, pots, pans,
table service for ten, coffee pot and toaster. A boat launch and a picnic area are located
near the Lake House.
Pittsburg Area
The Pittsburg Area campground provides plenty of shade with many campsites
that sit atop the rock bluffs and others that slope to the water’s edge. This campground
is located in an open woodland setting, making a more rustic camping experience, but
with nearby conveniences if desired. Water/electric, electric, and basic campsites are all
available in the Pittsburg campground. Also located in the campground are hot showers, a
playground, laundry facilities and a dump station. Near the campground is a swim beach,
an open picnic shelter and a boat launch. A full-service marina and boat launch is situated
just outside the Pittsburg campground. The marina offers slip rentals, boat, pontoon, kayak
ice cream. If you’re hungry, the marina grill serves breakfast, lunch and supper, along with
tackle can be purchased right there at the marina store.
Yurts are also available at the Pittsburg campground for a unique lodging option.
A yurt is a circular structure with a heavy fabric cover, much like a tent but with a wooden
frame, that makes it strong and weather tight. The yurt sits on a wooden platform with
decking and a locking door. Three large windows provide natural light and view of your
surroundings. Each yurt contains a log futon and a log bunk bed that together sleep up to
bring your camping gear, such as lanterns, cooking and eating utensils, bed linens or sleeping
bags and water containers. The yurts do not have running water.
