Jobsite, David teaches in the Honors College
at USF as an adjunct instructor. He has been
recently seen in Cloud Nine (Betty/Edward),
A Skull in Connemara (Tom Hanlon),
Time Stands Still (James), The Hound of
the Baskervilles (Dr. Watson) and The
Lonesome West (Coleman). The latter earned
him a Theatre Tampa Bay nomination for
Outstanding Lead Actor, recognition as a Top
9 performance of 2013 by Creative Loa ng’s
Mark Leib, and the Best Actor Award in CL’s
Best of the Bay Reader’s Poll. He has also
recently directed productions of HIR, The
Tempest, The Threepenny Opera, Gloucester
Blue, and As You Like It for Jobsite as well
as Annie Baker’s The Aliens for Stageworks
Theatre. He was the 2017 Theatre Tampa
Bay Outstanding Director, and in 2014 was
the recipient of the Best Director Award
from CL’s Reader’s Poll and Best Director
of a Musical in the BroadwayWorld Tampa
Regional Awards. He also won the 2017
Outstanding Featured Actor (A Skull in
Connemara) and the 2015 BroadwayWorld
Regional Award for Best Actor (Times
Stands Still). Creative Loa ng has twice
honored him as both Best Artistic Director
and Best Actor. David has published articles
in the scholarly journals Text & Performance
Quarterly, Liminalities, and Departures in
Critical Qualitative Research. He lives in
Tampa Heights in a neat old house with his
rad wife and a mess of critters.
DERRICK PHILLIPS
(Party Member 4) was most
recently seen in the role of
Trinculo in The Tempest for
Jobsite Theater. His other
local credits include: KJ
in The Aliens (Stageworks
Theatre); Jimmy Floyd in The Pitmen
Painters (American Stage); Tiger Brown in
The Threepenny Opera, Orlando in As You
Like It, Theo in The Underpants, Actor #2
in Lebensraum (Jobsite Theater); Richard III
in Richard III, Leonato in Much Ado About
Nothing, Macduff in Macbeth, Lord Capulet
in Romeo and Juliet (Tampa Shakespeare
Festival); Man in Tender Napalm (TRT2);
Joseph Cardin in The Children’s Hour and
Peter Shaw in Silent Sky (Tampa Repertory
Theatre); Woodnut in The Nether (guest artist
for Eckerd College); The 39 Steps and Fox
on the Fairway (Southern Arena Theatre).
He received his MFA in Performance from
the University of Southern Mississippi. In
2016, Derrick received a Best of the Bay
Award for Best New Local Face in Theater,
and this year, he received best Outstanding
Lead Actor for The Aliens at Stageworks
Theatre. Thank you to all friends and
family for constant inspiration. Derrick is
also excited to announce that he is the Co-
Artistic Director of Think Tank Theatre, a
professional theatre for young audiences!

ADAM WORKMAN
(Party Member 1) is
excited to be making his
Jobsite debut. Having
recently moved from the
Washington, D.C. area,
Adam brings a wide range
of experience in both musical theater playing
such roles as Ernst in Cabaret and Perchik
in Fiddler on the Roof as well as dramatic
productions, including the part of Happy in
Death of a Salesman.
SHAWN PAONESSA (Director, Sound
Designer) has been working with Jobsite
since he played Donkey in Brownbread,
their inaugural production at the Straz
Center in 1999. Directorial credits include
The Guys, Embedded (with David M.
Jenkins), Hurlyburly (Associate Director)
and Delusion of Darkness, as well as the
short lm, The Bedford Devil (Kite iers
Studios). Favorite onstage performances
include Jaques (As You Like It), Sir Henry
Baskerville, et al. (The Hound of the
Baskervilles), Petruchio (The Taming of the
Shrew), Oscar (The Odd Couple), CB (Dog
Sees God), and Guildenstern (Rosencrantz
and Guildenstern are Dead). He is also a
video and sound designer, online producer,
writer, and a Jobsite Artistic Associate.
BRIAN SMALLHEER (Set and
Lighting Designer, Technical Director)
received his education from Harrison
Center for the Visual and Performing
Arts, Polk Community College (Visual
Arts), and University of South Florida
(Theatre Design). Brian has been an
artistic associate and designer for Jobsite
/www.strazcenter.org
