Just next to the Frangipani is the Straw Hat, we had reservations
the night of our arrival. The Chef brings a unique and eclectic
tastes to the menu the staff will make you feel at home in a
relaxed, unpretentious and fun atmosphere ocean front. This first
evening was an evening to remember as it was our 22nd anniversary
sitting in the exact same restaurant that we celebrated our
wedding with family and friends 22 years ago. We dined on the
most incredible fresh grilled Cray Fish and Lobster dipped in melted
butter sauce. We had scarcely stuffed the last savory bite in our
mouths when we were joined by two of the most gracious amazing
people. Lari and Steve Kircher, (right) owners of the Frangipani
Resort. They joined us to say congratulations and listen to stories of
our first trip to Anguilla in 1995.
We enjoyed our time throughout the trip with Lari and Steve, the
Frangipani Moto is “Come as guest, leave as friends” they obviously
take that slogan seriously. They are the most amazing family
which is what makes the Frangipani what it is today. The attention
to details, service, property care and guest satisfaction is evident
throughout the property. They treat the staff as an extension of
their family.
During our stay, we also had the pleasure of meeting and getting
to know some of the loveliest folks also staying at the Frangipani,
some staying in the Frangipani Villa and some at the resort. The
Frangipani Villa the ultimate in luxury is a specular property it offers
elegance and design sophistication just perfect for groups, families,
wedding parties or just to have your own 5,000 square feet of
space with a private pool and service.
We enjoyed meeting folks from Australia, California, Florida, UK,
New York, Canada, Puerto Rico all staying at the Frangipani for
their 5th, 8th and more times. They just keep coming back for the
amazing experience the resort has to offer guest, well heck once
your friends and you must go back right.
We traveled to several amazing restaurants on the island. One
which was Madearinman at Shoal Bay. There we witnessed one of
the most extraordinary Anguillian, Auntie Bea, Queen of Shoal Bay.
She is a 92-year-old woman that makes jewelry and travels down
to the bay for a swim several times a day. Se has the most gentile
spirit and authentic human soul I have ever experienced. She is
a must visit on your trip to Anguilla. She will indeed look you in the
eyes and ask you some very personal questions, and tells you she
will see you again. She was such a joy.
Another outstanding over the top experience was our dinner at
Pimms inside Cap Juluca on Maundays Bay. Inside, Moorish white
arches elegantly contrast against the blue Caribbean Sea. Royal
blue seat cushions sit atop the white, wrought iron seats. Pimms’
Executive Chef Dean Samuels is a famous name in Anguilla. He is
one of Anguilla’s chefs whose team has repeatedly won gold at
the prestigious culinary competition in Miami, Taste of the Caribbean.
“Dining for two” at Pimms means dining just a foot from
the blue, tranquil bay, and romance, all delivered by Pimms for a
delight you won’t forget.
The people of Anguilla are what makes the island such a
magnificent place. Gentle and gracious, they take pride in their
home and pleasure in sharing it with visitors from around the world.
Guests and Anguillian’s say friendly “hellos” as we encounter each
other across the island, and it’s not long before we know each
other by name. Anguilla is an island with reverence for family, love,
community and God. The locals are the most amazing! They have
this absolute infectious happiness and joy just beaming from them
no matter where you meet them.
Activities are available all over the island for fishing, skiing, tubing,
paddle boards, underwater, day cruising, spa, horseback riding
on the beach of course a favorite. The beach rides are incredible
in Anguilla. Whether you just want to ‘blaze’ a bush trail or simply
splash along the sea shore you can enjoy a horse ride at any time
of the day from the early morning (as early as sunrise if you like)
to sunset or even during the full moon. Most of the rides are along
Cove Bay, an untouched, natural beach located on the southern
coastline of the island where there is almost always a pleasant
easterly breeze blowing.
Anguillians today celebrated their independence of 50th year
and their heritage of strength, survival, and determination with
Church services, uniformed parades, cultural performances and,
of course, the traditional round-the-island boat race.
Anguillians are genuinely happy to share their island with visitors,
their history, their heritage and their life. Down every road there is
something to discover: a bit of their past, a new friend, something
in nature, or something new. Guided tours are available but the
island lends itself to exploration, as it is easy to get around, and a
helpful friend is almost always nearby. It is an overwhelmingly safe
place.
Just sitting back enjoying the splendor of the island while taking
a dip into the textured fabric of Anguillians culture, happiness
permeates all.
Plan your next visit to Anguilla you won’t be sorry but plan to stay
at LEAST 10 days or more to enjoy all it has to offer. They call it
“Tranquillity Wrapped in Blue” for a very good reason, wind down,
breath, take a break from life.

Anguilla was hit by hurricane Irma around 8 a.m. ET on Wednesday,
September 6th, 2017 by the eye wall after this story had
been written about this amazing place and people. The people
of peace, happiness and joy. Our prayers and thoughts go out to
all that were affected by the hurricane as they are still working to
recover 6 months later, the island is almost completely back and
the Frangipani Resort is ready for your reservation. A true time of
celebrating for their complete recovery.
