Fabulous Friend
& Family Man
Randy Warren, formerly the Assistant
Public Information Ofcer and Bristow’s
right-hand man, has taken over as the
lead spokesperson for the sheriff’s
department. Warren says he thinks of
Bristow as a gifted broadcaster who made
the transition very smoothly to the public
relations side of the industry.
“He always knew how to keep things
concise, get a message across, and bring
things back around full circle,” Warren
recalls. “I certainly looked up to him as a
mentor, but he was also a good friend.”
Warren worked with Bristow for more than
23 years. “He was a really great guy,” he
says. “He knew how to do the job and stay
focused - but we all loved Dave for the
person he was. He had kind of an easy
going way about doing his work, but he
always kept things in perspective on life
and on what’s important.”
When he wasn’t working, Bristow spent
a good deal of time exercising in the
sheriff’s ofce workout room. He also
played basketball with former Sheriff Brad
Steube at least once a week. Considering
his commitment to tness and healthy
eating, Bristow’s sudden death was even
more shocking to those who knew him.
His friends and colleagues say Bristow
and his wife Lisa remained extremely
active in the community, giving back in
every way possible. While Bristow was a
dedicated public information ofcer and
enthusiastic football announcer, those
who knew him well say his family was his
true passion.
“He was a great friend and a great family
man, and we’ll never be able to replace
him,” emphasizes Sheriff Wells.
