Hello Silverthorn Residents!
What's a POD?
Did you know that Silverthorn is a partner with the Florida
Department of Health in Hernando County's closed POD
program?
What's that mean?
A POD is a Point of Dispensing location.
What is dispensed?
In an Emergency it is set up to "... provide medical
countermeasures such as drugs, vaccines, diagnostics, and nonpharmaceutical
countermeasures that may be needed to lessen
the effects of a public health emergency." Silverthorn is a Closed
POD dispensing site that is for Silverthorn Residents.
Why is this important to you?
You are a resident of Silverthorn and most likely have an interest
in Being Prepared for an emergency and Helping your neighbors
if you are able to. A few of our residents (some are members of
the HDPC) will be joining the Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI)
Coordinator for the Hernando County Department of Health in
a Training Exercise about setting up our Closed POD. Thursday
morning, Dec 6, 2018 is the day. You are invited to experience this
simulated "real life situation". We hope that you will walk away
from this training with a sense of how important preparation is
and what an important role Silverthorn can play in our city.
This is FREE training we hope you'll never use, but can directly
benefit you and your family if it is needed. Please spread the word
to the families in your neighborhood; send them my way (call,
text or email) if there are any questions.
Let me know what you think :-)
