NON-OPIOID OPTIONS
The Future of Pain Management
GERALD E. TRIMBLE, MD
For many, pain is a constant presence
making daily tasks difficult or even
impossible. Fortunately, there are options
to relieve or decrease your pain
and help you return to your daily activities.
At West Florida Pain Management,
we specialize in the diagnosis
and treatment of painful conditions,
focusing on each individual's needs.
Most pain problems can be treated
by several forms of therapy, including
medications, physical therapy, nerve
blocks, surgery, nerve stimulation, and
behavioral forms of therapy like biofeedback
and stress management. A
unique solution we offer is the use of
Ketamine infusions to help reduce the
addictive potential of some treatment
components. Ketamine works by resetting
neurotransmitters in the brain

and spinal cord. In addition, we may
recommend that treatments include a
psychologist trained to deal with detox
effects from opioids you might have
needed to manage your pain, and we
also utilize medications to help reduce
opioid withdrawal symptoms.
Some patients who have already pursued
other medical measures might
be considered for stem cell injections.
We take a very conservative approach
in this, but the injections encourage
other cells to create a more anti-inflammatory
environment, stimulating
cells to act younger by emitting
chemical mediators. Regardless of
the treatment ultimately selected for
you, it is important to make sure you
explore proper avenues to gain relief
from your pain.
