Want to lose weight? Good, because we can help. Losing weight is probably
the number 1 response we hear when we ask people why they walked
through the door. Fortunately for you, and them, CrossFit is hands down
the best training platform the world has ever seen.
I am not saying that simply because
I believe in CrossFit, I’m saying it because
I’ve seen it time and time again
over the last decade. Is it the only way?
Absolutely not. There’s a million quick
fixes, fad diets, expensive machines,
and so called experts who will tell you
anything to make themselves money.
Some of the time, you might see the
results you want, but most of the time,
people are left disappointed and either
return to their old ways, or move on to
the next new thing.
The big difference in what we do in
CrossFit is not that it's new, nor is it
groundbreaking, and it most certainly
isn’t a fad. It’s what we as humans
were designed to do for as long as we
have been walking this planet: Eat a
diet comprised primarily of what the
earth gives us, and perform functional
movement at appropriate intensity.
Sounds simple, right? Well, it is. By
eliminating the extraneous sugars and
excessive carbohydrate consumption,
we can prevent and reverse a host of
diseases that arise as a result of being
overweight. Once we add in the movement
part of it—aka our “workouts”—
we have created the best weight loss
system on earth. By spending an hour a
day, 3–5 days a week, running, squatting,
biking, lifting, rowing, and using
our own body weight, we can achieve
any of our athletic or aesthetic goals.
You don't have to mindlessly walk or
jog on a treadmill for hours on end.
You don't have to starve yourself. You
don’t have to spend all day working
out, and you definitely don’t have to go
at it alone. In CrossFit gyms, our workouts
are short and intense. Controlled
intensity is the necessary component
that will elicit a positive adaptation to
our fitness level. We also encourage
enough quality consumption of food
and calories to fuel ourselves for our
workouts. However, the best part is
probably the community surrounding
you, doing the same workouts with everyone
else, and being led by a coach to
ensure safety and proper form are met.
Every CrossFit workout is modifiable
for anyone at any fitness level. Everyone
deserves the right to safely exercise,
which is why a certified Coach leads
all of our classes. Walk into a CrossFit
affiliate (there are about 50 in the greater
Tampa area) and see for yourself,
just showing up on day 1 is usually the
hardest part. Life begins when you step
outside of your comfort zone.
