successful solo career, Gordon tours
regularly leading his quintet known as
Stars, headlining at legendary jazz venues
and performing arts centers throughout
the world. He is commissioned frequently,
and has an extensive catalog of original
compositions that span the various
timbres of jazz and chamber music.

Mr. Nelson is the
Founding Director of
Lowcountry Voices
and continues to
pursue his passion for
preserving the cultural
legacy and authenticity
of African-American
music. A native
Charlestonian, Mr. Nelson began playing
drums at age eight. Mr. Nelson, a wellregarded
public school music educator
and administrator, continues to work in
is the Interim Principal at the Simmons-
Pinckney Middle School in Charleston
Country School District.
Lowcountry Voices (LCV) is a community
performing arts organization based in
North Charleston, but drawing members
from across the Lowcountry. Founded in
2012 by Nathan L. Nelson, Director and
Sandra S. Barnhardt, Assistant Director,
the present choir has grown to 70 diverse
members inclusive of ethnic, multi-aged
singers of various musical backgrounds.
LCV performs choral repertoire to
high musical standards with a special
emphasis on African-American music,
including hymns, spirituals, traditional
and contemporary gospel, and jazz, as
nurtured and performed in the South
Carolina Lowcountry.
