The first step so
you and your
family can be
ready for
emergencies is
to make an
emergency plan.
You can make a
plan for yourself
and then work
with your parents
or guardians to
make a family
emergency plan.
Your Emergency Plan
27
Write down important phone
numbers, like your parents or
guardian, relatives or doctor.
Keep the list in your backpack
or purse.
You should have an in-town
emergency contact and an
out-of-town emergency contact.
If you couldn’t go home, you
should have a neighborhood
meeting place just in case.
You also should have an
in-town place to go in case
you have to leave your
neighborhood. This could
be a church, school or library.
If you have a cell phone,
learn how to text message.
