There is something fishy going on in
Henrico's Far West End.
Not in a delinquent fashion but
more of a California-sushi roll fashion,
with plenty avocado.
From Hard Shell, Europa, The Hill
Café and Water Grill (now called East
Coast Provisions) a new addition has
joined the group.
Located in the GreenGate shopping
center in Short Pump, West Coast
Provisions is making waves for sushi
enthusiasts.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s
because it is. Inspired by a play on its
sister-site’s eponym and the new western
Henrico location, the restaurant
stays true to its name by offering a little
taste of the west.
“Imagine sitting close to the
beach with the sunlight coming in
while eating lighter east-coast dishes
with avocado,“ said manager Derek
Rowe.
An airy ambience encouraged by
large bay windows and western influenced
flavor is what Rowe said hopes
to evoke a breezy, pacific feel in visitors.
Stiff competition
hangs just
outside of the
neighborhood but
Rowe said West
Coast Provisions
is very seafoodspecific,
which
sets it apart.
S e a s o n a l
selections, local
produce, herbs
and oysters grown
by WCP’s owner
in Virginia’s
Chesa-peake Bay
helps bring seafood and light experience
together on one plate.
Rowe said the restaurant has
something for meat-eaters and vegetarians
in customizable seafood
options.
For the daring, Rowe challenges
visitors to try something different from
customer-favored calamari, scallops or
rockfish.
“Octopus, because people should
step outside of their comfort zone,“
Rowe said. “Try something equally delicious
but different.”
If octopus is too adventurous,
West Coast Provisions does serve the
other fish in the sea-and options from
an oyster bar.
West Coast Provisions is open
Monday through Thursday from 11:30
a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday from
11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from
10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visit westcoastrva.
