With school just about out for the year again, I am looking for
around the corner, this craft is a perfect opportunity to entertain
them with an activity as well as create a keepsake gift for the
upcoming holiday.
Simpler is always preferred when it comes to our crafts, and if it is
a no-glue project with washable markers, well that is even better!
If you are looking for a summer project and a gift to create for Dad
before Sunday, June 16th, this is how my daughter put together
If you would like to create this fun activity with your kids, here is
what you will need:
• 8.5” X 11” White card stock paper
• Washable markers
• Round sticky magnets
• Twine
• Hole punch
• Clothes pin
• Letter stickers
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Safety scissors
• Printed family photo
store or craft store.
DIRECTIONS:
print a 4 x 6 photo of your child or children.
Next, take a ruler and pencil to draw a tie shape on the card
inches long, with the top section being two inches, the middle
at six inches, and the bottom three inches.
I also made sure that the width of the tie measured at least an
drawing, this shape needs to be cut out.
Tip: You may want to practice drawing the tie on a piece
the shape and measurements. Especially if you are making
multiple ties, you can cut that out to use as a template on
the card stock paper.
Then, it is time to get creative with the washable markers. My
daughter came up with a unique design for her creation using
patterns with squiggle lines and dots, along with a rainbow of colors.
Her tie turned out to be a one-of-a-kind, beautiful piece of artwork.
Next, we added two sticky magnets to the back of the clothes pin,
Tip: We also used a hole punch at the top and tied on a piece
of twine, so the craft could be hung up on a nail or hook.
It was time to add the stickers to the center of her creation to spell
out Dad. Finally, the craft was completed by using the clothes
pin (Tie clip) to place the photo on the tie.
husband was excited to take it to work.
As you can tell, this is an easy activity that gives children an
opportunity to get creative as well as giving DAD a special photo
frame to have at work or home.
I hope our creation inspires a handmade gift this holiday - I wish
