Another sculptor
who was relevant in
bridging the gap is
Scottish Sculptor
William Braithwaite.
His stacked blocks of
raw concrete,
interspersed by cut-out
sections with sawtooth
edges, update the
Brutalist style with a
contemporary vibe.
Brutalist sculptures
with textured surfaces
and repetitive,
rhythmic patterns are
typical of works by American
sculptor Marc Weinstein of "Marc Creates". A massive wall sculpture is
created from torch-cut, welded mixed metals, forming an openwork
grid of geometric forms with the added feature of candle holders at
intervals. Weinstein’s nail sculpture is embellished with gold and silver
patinas in a fluid design of circles and spiky elements.

Brutalist wall sculptures by
American Alex Kovacs and Danish
Willem DeGroot demonstrate the
possibilities of compiling torch-
cut mixed metals of copper, brass,
steel, etc. into layered, geometric
patchwork designs. The Kovacs
sculpture has smooth surfaces and
edges. The DeGroot sculpture has
partially blackened copper forms
with jagged edges (See photo
