Charlie’s Christmas Wish Worldwide Movie Premier
to Raise Funds for Homeless Veteran Shelter
on November 8
Today, there are more than 40,000 homeless
Real Hero Report |
veterans living on the streets of America, 40% of
them suffering from mental health issues. Even
more alarming is that 9% of these homeless veterans
are females, some with families. In 2018, the Cherokee
County Homeless Veterans Program (CCHVP) processed
92 homeless veterans into the program, which provides
a number of services, including short-term housing,
food, clothing, job placement, VA Claims processing,
and a vehicle donation program, to help get veterans off
the street and back into society. There are NO shelters
for homeless veterans north of Atlanta and up to the
neighboring states of Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina
and South Carolina.
Another alarming issue with veterans today is that 22
veterans commit suicide each day due to issues such as
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and
combat injuries. Mental health programs or treatment for
many of our veterans do not meet their needs or are not
available, leaving the veterans in many instances to deal
with their condition as best they can. Cherokee County
is home to more than 200 veterans with various forms of
PTSD, and they and their families want and need help.

CCHVP is planning a world premier showing of
Charlie’s Christmas Wish for two shows on November

Main Street in Woodstock. There will be 300 tickets
available for each of the 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. shows.
The Event: The movie premier is being provided through
Blue Heron Films, located in Canton, Georgia. The goal of this

Shelter here in Cherokee County. The movie is being shown the
Friday before Veterans Day, and the focus will be on Charlie, the
small dog in the movie.
Sponsors: Charlie the dog will be featured, and event
promotors are looking for sponsors who have a love and focus on
our pets, such as veterinarians, pet product suppliers and other pet
services for the event.
Sponsor levels are as follows:
Gold: $1,500
Silver: $750
Bronze: $500
Sponsors will be able to be at the event, have signage for the
event, and can bring samples to both showings. Members of
the cast, including Charlie and a Veteran Service Dog, will be
available for pictures. All sponsors also will be referenced in local
press articles and ticket advertising for the event.
