Rankin Museum - includes three
main areas of interest - Natural
History, American Heritage, and Native
American culture. Holds the lifetime
collections of Dr. Pressley R. Rankin, Jr.,
MD. of Ellerbe (its namesake). $
McLendon Cabin - ca. 1760, oldest
dwelling in Moore County on its
original location. Used as a cook house
for the Bryant House until 1940. A
superb example of early settlers’ oneroom
log cabins.
native. One of the founders & original
pilots of the Lafayette Escadrille in
WWI. Joined the French Army in 1915.
He died heroically in battle 3/19/1917.
