Corvette, BMW, Porsche and Ferrari are set to battle in the
GTLM class at the 68th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented
by Advance Auto Parts. The BMW team won the opening
round at Daytona in a tight battle with Porsche. But all eyes
at Sebring will be on the new Corvette C.8R, making its debut
at America’s oldest endurance race.
The Corvette team (No. 3 and No. 4) will be looking for its fi rst
win at Sebring since 2017. Drivers will be Oliver Gavin, Tommy
Milner, Marcel Fassler and Antonio Garcia, plus new team
members Jordan Taylor and Nicky Catsburg. Jan Magnussen
and Mike Rockenfeller will be driving for Corvette in Friday’s
WEC race.
Defending Sebring champion Porsche will have two new 911
RSR entries (No. 911 and No. 912) on the grid with drivers
Nick Tandy, Frederic Makowiecki, Earl Bamber, Laurens Vanthoor,
Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell. With an incredible
72 class wins in Sebring history, Porsche has always been a top
contender at the legendary endurance circuit.
BMW Team RLL (No. 24 and No. 25) has two M8 GTE entries
for drivers John Edwards, Jesse Krohn, Augusto Farfus, Colton
Herta, Bruno Spengler and Connor de Phillippi. Their recent
24-hour race win puts them as a favorite for this weekend.
The Risi Ferrari team is expected to enter Sebring with its
No. 62 488 GTE, hoping to give Ferrari its fi rst Sebring win
since 2016. Possible drivers include James Calado, Alessandro
Pier Guidi and Daniel Serra.
