WINTER SHOW SEASON Florida
The Ocala Horse Alliance is a new organization
that is uniting ALL aspects of the
horse industry in Marion County. The
newly formed association will be creating
a five-year Strategic Plan for the equine
industry... and we want everyone’s input into the
plan. It’s our future.
We are United by the Horse
Whether you breed it, ride it, braid it, shoe it, dress it,
feed it, house it, show it, train it, drive it, treat it, ship
it, trail it, write about it, lease it, judge it, appraise it,
massage it, photograph it, promote it, whisper to it,
or just love it... you are an integral part of the horse
industry.
This past January, the OHA was introduced to the
community with a summit held at the Golden Ocala
Golf and Equestrian Club. Pat Parelli (above right)
Started by asking “Who here loves horse?” Every
person raised their hand. He went on to explain
that “The slogan ‘United by the horse’, should add
United FOR the horse. EQUSS means Equal Us.”
The Keynote Speaker, Ty Murray, said “Horses
touch your soul the way no other animals do.
This organization can pass down information for the
horse in every aspect. This is a legacy.”
Stephen Day, former owner and CEO of Dover
Saddlery and State Line Tack, addressed an issue
concerning all disciplines. The fact that the equestrian
market will be affected by the baby boomers
aging out of riding as the reach their 70’s. To further
address this topic, Tom O’Mara, of Eliguis Advisory
LLC presented a session about developing a fan base
for equestrian sports.
With overwhelming support from the community,
the Ocala Horse Alliance is off to a fabulous start
in unifying all equestrians in Marion County for a
stronger, more impactful, healthier horse industry.
