Farms, Fords & F-150s
by Rebekah King
Driving the tractor over the fields of
watermelons, cantaloupes and corn in the
Texas sunshine with his grandfather grew
the foundation of life for Mr. Aaron Cooper.
Remembering back to those early days shared
on the farm in growing crops and then selling
the goods at the farmer’s market brings a
smile as Cooper now sells trucks to those with
whom he shares a heritage. The hometown of
Weatherford just outside of the Dallas–Fort
Worth area was a small farming community, the
county seat with a circle dubbed “The Square”
going around the courthouse just as the circle
travels our sweet Carthage. From Weatherford to
Carthage, the journey has crisscrossed America
Joe Frye & The Low
Down Dirty Heathens
by Rebekah King
Outlaw Country Blues and Southern Rockn
Roll drive the Joe Frye & the Low Down Dirty
Heathens Band. Pretty much, “We’re Heathen
music!” defines Joe Frye whose songs boast titles
of American Outlaw, Best I Can, Speechless,
Bonfire. Music for Heathens, Hillbillies, Outlaws,
Grifters & Hippies reads the slogan for the band
flowing in and out of the Broad Street strip with
gigs on tap at Legends, Bell Tree and Neville’s.
From Southern Pines to Candor and all taverns
in between, the Joe Frye and the Low Down
Dirty Heathens are rocking it out.

There are those interviews which twist and
turn into the crawlspaces of life wherein the raw
and real encounters become the best story ever.
Meet our very own Ethan Payne, a hometown
boy who grew up in the Southern Pines area and
into a man with a plan, a local business owner.
You won’t soon forget his business as it shares
his name in Ethan Payne Home Inspections.

Moore County Chamber of Commerce
Typically, at the beginning of a new year, I
encourage our business community to revisit
their strategic plan and revise their marketing
strategies. Thus, ensuring that we are all on track
to tackle a new year. It is imperative that we keep
pulse a on our local economy and the health of
our businesses, because #TogetherweareMoore!
Throughout the holiday season, the
Chamber of Commerce and other civic groups
in Moore County encourage you to ‘shop
local.’ A campaign championed throughout
the shopping season, and although this makes
sense, it is just as important to show this same
support to local businesses all year long. We ask
that you take the time to consider the impact you
can make on your local economy, by choosing to
keep the dollars you earn here, spent here.
Happy Mother's Day!
